SACRAMENTO, CA - A Sacramento jury convicted a former NFL player of 19 sexual assault, armed robbery, kidnapping, burglary and false imprisonment charges Monday for three Natomas home invasion crimes committed during the summer of 2011.
DNA evidence collected from one crime, the kidnapping and sexual assault of one victim, linked Keith Wright to one of the crimes, said Sacramento County District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Shelly Orio. A rare coin reported stolen that Wright tried to exchange linked him to another of the robberies.
The information led Sacramento robbery detectives to obtain a search warrant for Wright's residence where they found items taken from each of the victims, according to Orio.
Wright, originally from Santa Clara, was previously a defensive lineman for the Detroit Lions. He played college ball for Sacramento City College and the University of Missouri, Colombia.
Sentencing was set for Nov. 26 ion Sacramento Superior Court.
